This weekend...
I went to the Alternative Guide to the Universe exhibition at the Hayward Gallery. It was really good and I'll think I will make an effort to go to it again before it closes. The work that left the biggest impression on me was that of Richard Greaves. Large black and white photos of his ramshackle houses are shown alongside one of his smaller scale sculptures. He is a canadian artist that bought a plot of land in Quebec with his friends in the late 80s where they decided to live. The cabins are made from bits of abandoned barns and other detritus. I thought they were beautiful, although was sad to find out that unfortunately no longer standing (I think he had made around 20 cabins in total with other smaller sculptures on the same plot of land.)
